Stormwater Utility Town Hall Meeting November 14

On Thursday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. the Village will hold a Town Hall meeting to introduce the concept of how a stormwater utility fee would work in the Village. A stormwater utility fee is designed to fund the stormwater system as a utility to fund improvements and maintenance of the system.  The Village has made a limited number of stormwater improvements in past years; however, significant flooding in 2017 has highlighted the need to implement additional improvements. The Village adopted a Master Stormwater Management Plan on April 23, 2019 that contains approximately $45.5 million in identified flood reduction projects. Historically, the Village has funded stormwater improvements on a pay-as-you-go basis from General Fund dollars. Going forward, the Village desires to evaluate other more stable and sustainable revenue streams for funding stormwater infrastructure improvements and maintenance. The meeting will be held at the Libertyville Civic Center located at 135 W. Church Street. For additional information on the Village’s stormwater plan click here
