Updates on COVID-19

On March 31, 2020 Governor Pritzker extended the Stay at Home Order to April 30, 2020. To learn more about the order click here

The Lake County Health Department has developed a COVID-19 dashboard that shows the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases per 10,000 residents by municipality. To view the dashboard click here

On March 20, 2020 Governor Pritzker issued a Stay at Home Order. To learn more about this order click here. Per the Governor’s Order all playgrounds are closed until April 7. Parks and trails remain open to those who comply with social distancing requirements.

On March 15, 2020 the Village Board held a special Board meeting to consider a proclamation declaring the Village a disaster area for COVID-19. To read the press release click here

In response to guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health regarding the most effective strategies to prevent the spread of illness, Village Hall and non-essential buildings are closed to the public effective March 16. View the press release here. Essential services will continue to be offered in a limited capacity. There will be no reduction in services for public safety and the Village encourages residents to conduct business online, via mail or by phone, where possible. Vital records will continue to be available at the Village Hall, while vehicle stickers may be purchased at the Libertyville Police Department. As this is an ongoing situation, the Village will continue to share updates via the website and on social media. Residents are encouraged to sign-up for Village e-news via the Village website as well.

There will be no reduction or changes to critical emergency services, water distribution or refuse collection. Residents should continue to call 911 in an emergency. All questions regarding health and wellness related to COVID-19 should be directed to the Illinois Department of Public Health’s hotline at 800-889-3931 or dph.sick@illinois.gov.

To protect yourself and others from getting and spreading respiratory illnesses, prevention is critical. Do your part to slow the spread of illnesses by taking the following steps:

  • Stay home when sick
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Wash hands often with soap and water
  • Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

How to Support YOUR Local Businesses
While the State has required bars and restaurants to be closed to dine-in customers there are still many ways you can support restaurants, bars and other businesses during this time. Many bars and restaurants are offering carry-out, curbside and delivery options. To learn more about all of the great restaurants the Village has to offer visit www.libertyvilledining.com. You can also help to support a business in one of the following ways:

  • Purchase a gift card
  • Send a warm meal to a senior, family member or neighbor
  • Consider leaving a larger tip
  • Purchase online or over the phone
  • Order carry-out or delivery

Please remember to follow all social distancing guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control!
