Waste and Recycling Services

Residential Single Family

The Village has a residential waste hauler contract with Groot Industries, Inc.  to provide waste and recycling service to single and multi family homes. Typical pick-up days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and each residence has once a week pick-up depending on its location.

New residents should call 1-877-40G-ROOT (1-877-404-7668) to establish service.

Residential Refuse & Recycling Services (Single Family)

Groot offers three different service levels to single family residences for garbage and recycling.  Garbage and landscape tags are available at Jewel-Osco, Ace Hardware, Sunset Foods, and Village Hall. 

Rates are effective 6/1/25 and are billed quarterly by Groot:

• Unlimited household garbage, recycling cart, and 1 bulk item/week is $27.17/month
• Limited (1 container only) household garbage, recycling cart, and 1 bulk item/week is $22.93/month (seniors 65 and older is $20.53/month)
• Pay per bag service is $4.16/bag and $7.63/month for recycling

The following holidays will result in pick-up being delayed one day later (unless the holiday falls on a Saturday):

New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Residential Refuse & Recycling Services (Townhomes, Condos, Apartments)

Monthly rate for large commercial containers (condos, apartments):

• $11.44 per unit/per month

Monthly rate for individual curbside collection:

• $17.00  per unit/per month (once per week service without carts)
• $20.05  per unit/per month (once per week service with carts)
• $17.66* per unit/per month (twice per week service without carts)
• $20.73* per unit/per month (twice per week service with carts)

*Twice per week service available for existing customers only.

Per bag or bundle is $2.90/tag

Full season subscription is $195.00/year
4/1-10/14 includes up to 6 bags or containers/week
10/15 through the week of 11/30 includes up to 12 bags or containers/week
Abbreviated fall season subscription is $90.00
10/15 through the week of 11/30 includes up to 12 bags or containers/week

Landscape Cart for food scraps $40.00

Recycling

Single Stream recycling is here. No more sorting within your recycling bin. For a list of items you can recycle please see the service guide. A recycling cart is available with your garbage service and no additional charge and makes recycling even easier.

SWALCO (Solid Waste Agency of Lake County) offers special pick-ups throughout Lake County for household hazardous waste items, electronics recycling, and clothing & textiles.
