March 4th Town Hall Meeting

On the March 17, 2020 Presidential Primary Ballot, the residents of the Village of Libertyville will have the opportunity to answer a question regarding imposing a non-home rule local sales tax of 1%. The tax is equivalent to a penny per dollar on general merchandise. The local sales tax would NOT apply to medicines, titled goods, such as cars and trailers, and most groceries. If approved by voters, the additional sales tax is projected to generate approximately $2,000,000 in new revenue annually after the repeal of the Places for Eating tax. On Wednesday, March 4th a Town Hall meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Libertyville Civic Center to learn more about the Referendum.  For further information click here.

Mayor's Business of the Day

The most recent Business of the Day was Dangela's Dumplings. Dangela's Dumplings recently opened at 133 N. Milwaukee Ave. in the Libertyville Crossings center.  Dangela's specializes in traditional Chinese dumplings, made by hand and available in several flavors and styles.  Mayor Weppler met with the owner, Angela, to learn how they are made and to sample the delicious fare.  Watch the video here.

Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) - Facts and Prevention

Although the risk to Illinois residents remains low, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is working with local, state and federal health partners to take all preventative steps available to limit the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Earlier this month, Illinois became the first state to provide in-state coronavirus testing, and IDPH is currently conducting hospital assessments to determine all available capacity, should more people need medical care.

To protect yourself and others from getting and spreading respiratory illnesses, prevention is critical. Do your part to slow the spread of illnesses by taking the following steps:

  • Stay home when sick
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Wash hands often with soap and water
  • Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
The Village of Libertyville is currently monitoring information from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Lake County Health Department and will provide information when it becomes available.
