Village Renews Waste Hauler Contract

The Village recently renewed their residential and commercial waste hauler contract with Groot Industries through June 1, 2026. Groot Industries has served the Village of Libertyville for over fifteen years. Highlights of the contract include a savings to the residential contract retroactive to June 1, 2020. 2020 residential rates have been reduced to $17.00-$22.50 per month depending upon the type of service received (limited, senior limited and unlimited). Residential monthly rates under the previous arrangement ranged from $19.95-$29.13. A seventeen-month rate hold on commercial customer rates will also occur until June 1, 2021.

The Village is excited to announce two new residential service enhancements that are being offered as part of the contract. Composting, and curbside electronic waste pick-up. Beginning January 1, 2021 residents will have the opportunity to participate in curbside composting of organic waste (fruits and vegetables). Stay tuned for further details on this program.

Curbside pick-up for electronic waste is available at no cost to users. Collection will occur one day a week (normal collection day), for up to three acceptable electronic waste items (limitations apply). Refuse and recycling pick-up days and times will remain the same. Bike Safety Guidelines

The Village's Bicycle Advisory Commission has developed bicycle safety guidelines. Bike safe this fall with these helpful guidelines from the Libertyville Bicycle Advisory Commission.

LSC Grant Application

The Local Initiatives Support Corporation current grant round is open and accepting applications through September 7th. Please find grant information here and the application here. Grants of $20,000 are available to small business owners to help meet their most immediate needs. Eligible expenses include: rent and utilities, payroll, debt to vendors, upgrading technology, immediate operational costs, etc.

Census 2020

There is still time to respond to the 2020 Census. The Village of Libertyville currently has a response rate of 83.1%. The Census is a count of every person living in the 50 states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. You can respond online, via phone or mail. Get Counted Today!
