Adopt a Storm Drain Program

With the summer rains, please assist the Village with cleaning your storm drain to help minimize local flooding. The Village has launched an adopt a drain program.

Adopt a Drain is a volunteer program in which residents can “adopt” one of the 3,000 storm drains in the community.  Adopters commit to cleaning the drain of debris to maintain a safe and clean environment.

Clogged storm drains are one of the major causes of roadway flooding in the Village. These drains are a critical part of the overall storm water management system, and keeping the drains clean assists in preventing roadway flooding.  To learn more and to adopt a drain today click here.

HISTORIC

National Historic Register of Historic Places- Downtown Libertyville

The Village is currently preparing an application for the National Register of Historic Places for the downtown historic district. Currently, the historic district is recognized locally by the Village of Libertyville and through the Village’s status as a Certified Local Government established by the State of Illinois. As part of the nomination process, Ramsey Historic Consultants will be conducting an update to the survey of the downtown area that was undertaken by the Village in 2016. The preliminary research and field survey is scheduled to begin in August 2024 and expected to be completed by September 2024. During this time surveyors will be taking photographs of certain areas within the boundaries of the proposed area.
