Peterson Road Railroad Crossing Closure

The Wisconsin Central Ltd. Railroad will be completing railroad crossing improvements at the Peterson Road crossing in Libertyville beginning Wednesday, April 17 and re-opening on Wednesday, April 24. The railroad crossing at Peterson Road, just west of Route 45 will be closed during this time. Eastbound traffic will be detoured to Midlothian Road, while westbound traffic will be detoured to Route 45. Click here to view the detour map.

Fire Department Annual Report

The Fire Department is proud to present their annual report for 2018. Did you know that the Fire Department responded to 4,628 emergency calls in 2018 or that the Department is responsible for inspecting 2,159 properties in the Village? To learn more, read the report by clicking here.

Clean Drains Reduce Flooding

In the event of a storm, clogged drains can prevent the flow of water from the streets and into the storm sewer systems. The backup of water can cause localized flooding. With the help of residents, the chances of local flooding after a storm can be decreased. When performing routine yard maintenance don’t forget to add curb drains to the list. Clear them from debris, and place it into your landscape waste. This will help to keep the storm sewer system clear and move water where it is intended to go.

Public Works Seasonal Employment Opportunity

Know of someone who is looking for a summer job? The Public Works Department is accepting applications for seasonal employees. Typical duties for seasonal positions include landscaping, painting, facility cleaning, litter removal, and other general maintenance in Utilities, Streets, Parks and/or Wastewater. Applications are available online at https://www.libertyville.com/jobs.aspx. Applicants must submit a Village Job Application to employment@libertyville.com no later than May 15, 2019.

Building and Fire Construction Codes Updated

Effective May 1, 2019, all new building and fire permit applications filed with the Village of Libertyville shall comply with the updated construction code recently adopted by the Village Board. To view or print the Ordinance click here.
