250th Anniversary of America
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026. On April 28th, 2026 the Village Board passed a Resolution in support of the Illinois America250 Commemoration.
Plans for Libertyville’s 250 recognition include the following upcoming events:
- “Declare” what you love about Libertyville/time capsule (Village Hall)
- Themed 250 opening and closing finale for the July 4th fireworks show
- Historic flag set to be displayed in Sunrise Rotary Park (June-August)
- America 250 flags at Village buildings
- Commemorative “250” Banners
- Stars in the Parks videos with Library and Historical Society
- Visit “Betsy Ross” in Cook Park on July 4th with a giveaway
