Contractor Requirements
The Village of Libertyville does not have contractor registration. There is no form to fill out nor any fee to pay for registration. Please see the items below that will get you into our system and up to date for applying for permits. These items can be included with the application documents for permits.
General Contractor
- Certificate of Insurance
- Village of Libertyville listed as the Certificate Holder
- General Liability coverage shown
- Worker’s Comp coverage shown
- If Worker’s Comp coverage is not carried by the contractor, that is acceptable. Submit a letter stating that Worker’s Comp coverage is not carried and the reason why.
Electrical Contractor
- Certificate of Insurance
- Village of Libertyville listed as the Certificate Holder
- General Liability coverage shown
- Worker’s Comp coverage shown
- If Worker’s Comp coverage is not carried by the contractor, that is acceptable. Submit a letter stating that Worker’s Comp coverage is not carried and the reason why.
- Electrical License from an approved State of Illinois Municipality
- Letter of Intent required for each project submitted
- On Company Letterhead
- State the scope of work
- Signed and dated by licensee (whoever's name is on the Electrical License)
- Stamped with a Corporate Seal or Notarized
- For Residential projects where the owner desires to do the electrical work, the owner shall sign the Electric Verification Letter
Irrigation Contractor
- Certificate of Insurance

Plumbing Contractor
- Copy of current State of Illinois Plumbing Contractor Registration
- Copy of Plumber's License
- Letter of Intent required for each project submitted
- On Company Letterhead
- State the scope of work
- Signed and dated by licensee (whomever's name is on the Plumber's License)
- Stamped with a Corporate Seal or Notarized
- For Residential projects where owner desires to do the plumbing work, the owner shall sign the Plumbing Verification Letter.
Roofing Contractor
- State of Illinois Roofing License
- Photo ID of person who signs permit application
Sewer Contractor
- Certificate of Insurance

- General Liability coverage shown
