Building

The Building Division is responsible for the plan review, permits, and inspections for construction projects as well as compliance of the Building and Zoning Code. These projects range from large commercial buildings to residential fences. The Building Division is the Staff Liaison for the Electrical Commission as well as testing and licensing of electrical contractors.

We are located in the PNC Bank Building, 325 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Suite 203 Libertyville, IL, and are open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, except Village holidays.

Building Codes

Building Codes are adopted and amended through the Libertyville Municipal Code, Chapter 6 Building and Technical Regulations and are available to download in a .pdf format.

• Online Permit Application (only for roofing, low voltage, and private sewer repair)
• General Permit Information (plan review, cost, inspections, work hours)
• Commercial Permit Information (submittal requirements for stores, offices, factories, etc)
• Residential Permit Information (submittal requirements for new homes, remodeling, etc)
• Contractor Registration (licensing & insurance requirements)
• Electrical Contractor License Exam (take an exam to be a licensed electrical contractor)
