KnoxBox Orders

Overview

When firefighters respond to a fire alarm, time is of the essence. It is for this reason that fire departments across the country use the Knox System to prevent costly forced entry while protecting lives and property.

KnoxBoxes are permanently installed in commercial building entrances or gates to hold building entrance keys and/or electronic access cards that may provide fire department access to the unattended property. Recently, many home owners have also discovered the value of having a residential KnoxBox, as similar situations arise with paramedic rescue calls when a patient is home alone and cannot get to the door after they have called for help.

A unique feature about the Knox box is that it can only be opened by the Fire Department’s exclusive key for the safety of the property owner. Knox rapid entry system products can only be purchased through the fire department for Village security reasons.

Please take the following steps to purchase your KnoxBox:

1.    Go to knoxbox.com

2.    At the top left above the Knox logo, select “Choose your local fire department agency.”

3.    Under “Your Location” click the box below and select Illinois as the state

4.    For “Local fire department/agency,” type in “Libertyville” and select “Libertyville Fire Dept” that displays

5.    Click on the “Search” button

6.    For all non-residential buildings, select the first red “Select” box. For residential buildings (“Residential Use ONLY – HomeBoxes), click on the second “Select” box

For Commercial KnoxBoxes:

1.    After selecting the first “Select” box, hover over “Products” towards the top of the website and select “Commercial KnoxBoxes” from the dropdown menu

2.    Scroll down to find the available products. To hold four or less keys, you may select the 3200 model. For five of more keys, select the 4400 model. Select “View” under the 3200/4400

3.    For DualLock Type, select “None”

4.    Select your preferred Color

5.    For Tamper Switch Type, the Libertyville Fire Department requires a “Fire Alarm/Panel” to be selected

6.    For Lock Type, the Libertyville Fire Department requires “Single Lock” to be selected

7.    Select your preferred Mount Type

8.    Fill in the information below “Installation Address”

9.    Click the “Add to Cart” button

10.    After your order is completed, the Libertyville Fire Department will be notified by Knox. After the Libertyville Fire Department approves your order by ensuring all of the above required options were selected, Knox will ship the order to the inputted mailing address

For Residential KnoxBoxes:

1.    After selecting the second “Select” box, hover over “Products” towards the top of the website and select “Residential KnoxBoxes” from the dropdown menu

2.    Scroll down to find the available products. Please note that there may only one model available for purchase. This is normal. Select “View” under your selected model

3.    Select any option under “Door Hanger”

4.    Select any option under “Tamper Switch Type”

5.    Select any option under “Color”

6.    Fill in the information below “Installation Address”

7.    Click the “Add to Cart” button

8.    After your order is completed, the Libertyville Fire Department will be notified by Knox. After the Libertyville Fire Department approves your order, Knox will ship the order to the inputted mailing address
